LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lady Lions took an early 2-0 lead but Washington Adventist came from behind to down Lincoln 4-2 on Thursday, September 25
th at LU Stadium.
Cleo Spear (Sydney, Australia/Oxford Falls Grammar School) scored in the 52
nd minute off of a header goal.
Lincoln's fired 14 shots on the Washington Adventist defensive in the first period. Freshman
Kayla Butts (Lansdowne, PA/Bonner Prendie Catholic HS) gave the Lady Lions a 1-0 lead in the 11
th minute of action. Senior
Audrey Smylie (Baltimore, MD/Western HS) set her up for the goal as she nailed her second goal of the season. In the 52
nd minute junior Alana Van Ness and
Cleo Spear (Sydney, Australia/Oxford Falls Grammar School) extended the Lincoln advantage to 2-0. Van Ness was credited with an assist off of a corner kick that was headed by Spear for the goal.
Shortly after their second goal Lincoln's defense began to struggle as Washington Adventist started their attack. The Shock scored three goals in a matter of six minutes to take a 3-2 lead. Lincoln surrendered goals in the 57
th , 59
th , and 63
rd minute of action in the second period. The final goal was scored in the 72
nd minute as Lincoln trailed. The final was 4-2 as Lincoln falls to 0-7 overall.
The Lady Lions return to action on Wednesday, September 30
th at 4p.m. against Chowan at LU Stadium.
