CHEYNEY, Pa. –
Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) led the Lady Lions with 13 kills in a 3-2 road loss in their season opener to rival Cheyney University on Wednesday, September 16
th. Lincoln held a 2-0 advantage heading into the third set, but the Wolves rallied back for three straight victories picking up the win.
Lincoln came out strong posting 11 kills in the opening set. Cheyney struggled early combining for 17 errors in the first two sets at home. The Lady Lions won 25-12 and then 25-22 looking to close out their rivals. In the third set, Cheyney exploded for ten team kills while Lincoln increased their error margin with nine totaled. The Wolves won 25-18 and then picked up a 25-20 win in the fourth set. Lincoln had 12 errors in that fourth set as Cheyney gained momentum heading into the final set. In a close fifth and final set Cheyney prevailed 18-16. Lincoln had seven kills with seven errors while Cheyney posted eight kills and only six kills.

Shanna King (Newark, NJ/University High School) posted a game-high 22 assists on 40 total team kills by the Lady Lions. Five recorded double digit digs led by
Soyini Hugget (Bear, DE/Delaware Tech CC) and
Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS). Hugget had a game-high 23 digs while Cook followed with 22 digs. Hugget and Cook also posted four service aces a piece along with
Mariah Russell (St. Louis, MO/Maplewood Richmond Heights HS).
The Lady Lions (0-1) will head down to Winston-Salem, N.C. this weekend for a CIAA Round-Up beginning on Saturday, September 19
th against Winston-Salem State and Johnson C. Smith University.
