Pam, Lady Lions Down Fayetteville State, 57-53

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Senior Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) exploded for a season-high 24 points leading the Lady Lions come from behind road victory against Fayetteville State University on Thursday, January 8th at Felton J. Capel Arena. Lincoln captures their first ever victory over Fayetteville State snapping a nine game skid.

Lincoln got off to a slow start scoring only five points in the first ten minutes of the game. The Lady Broncos were up by double digits (16-5) by the 11:06 mark before the Lady Lions bench rescued their offense with several key baskets. Their bench was led by senior Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC), junior Lisa Saunders (Hampton, VA/Hampton HS), and sophomore Jailen Murphy (Nashville, TN/Brentwood Academy). The trio combined for 17 of LU's 24 first half points. Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC)'s layup with 2:25 left in the half gave the lady Lions their first lead of the game (21-20). Fayetteville State responded with two back to back scores, but a late free-throw by Pam cut into the Lady Broncos halftime lead 25-24.

Lincoln shot a low 32% (9-28) from the field and allowed FSU to convert on 50% (9-18) of their attempts. Defensively, Lincoln forced 17 turnovers and recorded nine early steals.

Lisa Saunders (Hampton, VA/Hampton HS) opened the second half draining a three-pointer giving the Lady Lions a 27-25 advantage. In front of their home crowd the Lady Broncos went another huge run and led the Lady Lions (47-35) with 5:59 left in regulation. Lincoln's defense shut down Fayetteville State the rest of the way while their offense put together a 16-6 run to come from behind in the final five minutes of action. On the brink of leading the Lady Lions to their first ever win over the Lady Broncos, Pam rallied her troops.

Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) scored nine points down the stretch while senior Alaysia Washington (Washington, DC /Friendship Collegiate Academy) and junior Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) each added four points. Pam gave the Lady Lions a 54-53 lead with 26 seconds left by connecting on a three-point play. On the ensuing possession, the Lady Broncos missed the game tying free-throw leading to Pam sealing the Lincoln victory with her 15th point of the second half leaving ten seconds on the clock. Lincoln ended a nine game losing streak against Fayetteville State with a 57-53 road win.

Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) finished with a season-high 24 points on 9-of-19 shooting from the field and 6-of-13 made free-throws. Pam collected a team-high six rebounds with four steals. Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) recorded a career-best six steals and scored nine points. Clark made 5-of-8 from the free-throw line and had three rebounds. Lisa Saunders (Hampton, VA/Hampton HS) had seven points, three rebounds, and three steals.

Lincoln moves to 10-3, 2-1 CIAA record while Fayetteville State drops to 5-8, 1-3 CIAA record. The Lady Lions remain on the road for their second out of four consecutive CIAA road games against Saint Augustine's University on Saturday, Jan. 10 at 2 p.m. at Emery Gymnasium in Raleigh, NC.
