Lady Lions Fall Short At Home Against Livingstone, 70-65

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Senior Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) scored a season-high 18 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in a close 70-65 home loss for the Lady Lions against Livingstone College on Monday, January 5th in Manuel Rivero Hall.

The Lady Lions found success in the first half against the Lady Blue Bears with effective shooting from the outside. Junior Lisa Saunders (Hampton, VA/Hampton HS) led the Lady Lions with 11 first half points on 3-of-4 made field goals. Senior Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) added eight points and eight rebounds off of the LU bench. Livingstone shot 44% (13-29) from the field while Lincoln was 38% (12-31). The Lady Blue Bears converted on 50% (7-14) of their free-throw attempts as the Lady Lions struggled with 25% (3-12) from the line. There were two lead changes and the Lady Blue Bears held a slight 33-31 advantage at halftime.

In the second half, Livingstone had 41 free-throw attempts and made 63% while Lincoln continued to struggle shooting 41% (5-for-12). The Lady Blue Bears had their largest lead (55-39) with 11:30 remaining in regulation. Junior Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) and freshman Teira Pendleton (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) rallied the Lady Lions over the next four minutes of action cutting the LC advantage to 55-53. Pendleton scored eight second half points and Clark added seven. Lincoln would get within one point of Livingstone, but were unable to take the lead down the stretch. In the final minute, the Lady Blue Bears made four free-throws as the Lady Lions missed on their opportunities in a 70-65 home loss.

Zephrah Pam (Syracuse, NY/Monroe CC) recorded her third double-double of the season with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Lisa Saunders (Hampton, VA/Hampton HS) followed with 12 points including three made shots from long range and four rebounds. Amani Clark (Middletown, DE/Appoquinimink HS) was the other Lady Lion to reach double figures with 10 points, four steals, and three assists. Teira Pendleton (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) finished with nine points and four steals while junior Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) had eight points and four assists.

Lincoln falls to 9-3, 1-1 CIAA record and Livingstone remains undefeated with a 12-0, 3-0 CIAA record. The Lady Lions hit the road for four consecutive CIAA conference games beginning with Fayetteville State University on Thursday, January 8th at 5:30 in the Felton J. Capel Arena.
