Joshua Davis (Saginaw, MI/Louisburg Junior College) scored a career-high 19 points in a 88-65 victory for the Lions against St. Augustine's on Saturday, January 10
th at Emery Gymnasium.
The Lions got off to a hot start shooting 56% (13-for-23) from the field against St. Aug's. Senior
Kyle Aiken (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS) had 11 first half points pacing the Lions but it was their bench that made the biggest impact with a 15-6 scoring advantage. Junior
Rysheen Dorn (Philadelphia, PA/A.S.A. College) led the bench with eight points while
Joshua Davis (Saginaw, MI/Louisburg Junior College) had four points. St. Aug's led 13-12 at the 10:54 mark in the opening half before the Lions went on their run.
Three-pointers by
Kyle Aiken (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS) and senior
Demetrius Johnson (Baltimore, MD/Milford Mill HS) ignited a 21-6 Lincoln run. The Lions led 32-19 with 2:44 left in the first half and held a double digit advantage throughout the contest. Lincoln's defense forced 26 turnovers that turned into 21 points for their offense.
With a 35-26 lead after the half, the Lions bench continued to roll in the final twenty minutes behind a career-best scoring performance by
Joshua Davis (Saginaw, MI/Louisburg Junior College). Davis had 15 points in the final half with five rebounds. Junior
Chaz Sharp (Baltimore, MD/Xavier University of Louisiana) added seven points off of the LU bench and freshman
Quaman Burton (Richmond, VA/John Marshall HS) had four points. The Lions remained consistent on both ends of the court against the Falcons shooting 54% (13-of-24) from the field and 50% (4-of-8) from behind three-point range.
Down the stretch, senior
Alonzo Murphy (Pittsburgh, PA/California University (PA)) went a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line as the Lions attempted 31 second half free-throws.
Joshua Davis (Saginaw, MI/Louisburg Junior College) was 5-for-6 and
Quaman Burton (Richmond, VA/John Marshall HS) was 4-for-6 from the charity stripe. Lincoln held a 26 point lead with 4:37 left in regulation and cruised to an 88-65 road victory.
Four Lions finished in double figures led by
Joshua Davis (Saginaw, MI/Louisburg Junior College). Davis made a career-high 7-of-10 shots from the field to go along with 5-of-7 made free-throws.
Kyle Aiken (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS) had 14 points, four assists, and three rebounds.
Alonzo Murphy (Pittsburgh, PA/California University (PA)) and senior
Tony Efese (Spring Valley, NY/St. Joseph Regional HS) both had ten points in the Lions win.
Lincoln moves to 4-1 in CIAA play and 10-5 overall record. St. Augustine's falls to 0-4 in CIAA play and 6-8 overall record. The Lions remain on the road for their third out of four consecutive CIAA road games against Shaw University on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Spaulding Gymnasium in Raleigh, NC.
