LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Junior
Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) and sophomore
Kyra Orton (Detroit, MI/Renaissance HS) led the Lions with 10 digs each, but Virginia Union University defeated Lincoln 3-0 (25-16, 25-22, 25-21) on Thursday, September 18
th.
Lincoln forced Virginia Union into 22 total errors in a close battle. The Lions had a pair with double digit digs in
Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) and
Kyra Orton (Detroit, MI/Renaissance HS). Along with her ten digs Orton had a kill and an assist against the Panthers.
Freshman
Ashanti Price (Upper Marlboro, MD/Bishop McNamara HS) finished with a game-high 11 kills leading the Lions. Price had a .161 attack percentage and pitched in defensively with three digs. Junior
Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) had four kills and sophomore
Shanna King (Newark, NJ/University High School) had two kills. King setup her teammates with 15 assists, seven digs, and two service aces.
The Lions were swept in straight-sets by the Panthers in their second home game of the season. They drop to 1-5, 0-4 in CIAA play and will host Elizabeth City State University on Sunday, September 21 at 6 p.m.
