SPARK HILL, N.Y. – Sophomore
Tamara Greene (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway HS) recorded her second goal of the season in the second period but Saint Thomas responded with two unanswered goals to down Lincoln 2-1 on Tuesday, September 10
th.
After a scoreless first half of play between the teams, Lincoln's
Tamara Greene (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway HS) recorded her second goal of the season with a long shot off the inside of the post from the left side. Sophomore
Alanna Van Ness (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway HS) assisted Greene with the score in the 47
th minute of play against the Spartans.
Two minutes later, Saint Thomas tied the match with a goal from inside of the box hitting the right post in the 49
th minute. The Spartans fired 19 total shots against the Lady Lions leading to 11 saves by Lincoln's goalkeeper sophomore
Christian Harris (Rochester, NY/The Aquinas Institute). Harris had seven saves in the first period and four in the second period. The teams battled into the final five minutes of regulation as the Spartans netted the game winning goal in the 86
th minute to defeat the Lady Lions, 2-1.
Both
Tamara Greene (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway HS) and
Alanna Van Ness (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway HS) had two shot attempts against the Spartans and senior
Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School) had one attempt in the first half.
Lincoln falls to 1-1-1 on the season after their 2-1 loss to Saint Thomas Aquinas and will host New York Institute of Technology on Sunday, September 14
th at 2 p.m. in their next match.
