LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University women's soccer team (1-2-1) attempt at a second half comeback fell short against the Bears of NYIT (1-2), 2-1 on Sunday, September 14
th at the LU Stadium. Senior
Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School) hit a penalty kick in the 69
th minute for the Lions only score of the match.
Lincoln fell behind early to NYIT after two early goals by the Bears. Two early scores by NYIT in the 5
th and 15
th minutes gave the Bears the momentum against the Lions on the road. NYIT outshot Lincoln 14-7 in the first half leading to three saves by sophomore goalkeeper
Christian Harris (Rochester, NY/The Aquinas Institute). Despite their early struggles, the Lions regrouped in the second half against NYIT.
Junior
Emily Woodruff (San Diego, CA/Madison HS) replaced
Christian Harris (Rochester, NY/The Aquinas Institute) in the second half as the Lions goalie and protected the net with one save. Harris led the Lions with six shot attempts including four shots on goal in the final half. Lincoln outshot the Bears 11-2 and finally scored a goal after an NYIT foul that led to a penalty attempt.

th minute,
Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School) hit the right side of the net to cut into the Bears lead 2-1. O'Brien finished with five shot attempts and three on goal while sophomore
Tamara Greene (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway HS) also had three shots on goal for the Lions. Lincoln failed at an equalizer as the Bears held on for a 2-1 victory.
The Lions fall to 1-2-1 on the season and travels to Salem, WV on Saturday, September 20
th against Salem International University.
