Avree Morton Homers At CIAA Round-Up

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 | Box Score 4 RALEIGH, NC – Avree Morton (Uniondale, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) led the Lady Lions with five hits including three doubles during Lincoln's five game CIAA Round-Up at the Walnut Creek Complex in Raleigh, NC. Morton crushed a homerun against St. Augustine's on Sunday.
 
LIVINGSTONE 20, LINCOLN 0
Pitcher Kyla Sead (West Haven, CT/Hill Regional Career Magnet HS) had four strike outs in five innings against Livingstone College in their first of a five game CIAA Round-Up at the Walnut Creek Complex in Raleigh, NC.
 
Avree Morton (Uniondale, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) had the Lady Lions lone hit of the game in the first inning with a single to third base. Livingstone's defense held Lincoln without a run and offensively scored nine runs in the first inning, one run in the second inning, three in the third inning, and seven runs in the fourth inning.
 
FAYETTEVILLE STATE 21, LINCOLN 1
Lincoln had five hits against Fayetteville State in a 21-1 defeat on Saturday, March 22nd.
 
In the fourth inning, Emily Woodruff (San Diego, CA/Madison HS) led off with a single to the infield for the Lady Lions. Next, Avree Morton (Uniondale, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) doubled down the left field line for an RBI to bring in Woodruff. Toni Smith (New Castle, DE/William Penn HS) also had a hit in that inning, but the Fayetteville State defense held Lincoln to only one run.  
 
Chauntel Seymour (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck HS) recorded a double to right-center field in the fifth inning and in the end Fayetteville State cruised to a 21-1 victory. Pitcher Emily Woodruff (San Diego, CA/Madison HS) started the game for the Lady Lions and Kyla Sead (West Haven, CT/Hill Regional Career Magnet HS) pitched in relief striking out one batter.
 
WINSTON-SALEM STATE 18, LINCOLN 2
Toni Smith (New Castle, DE/William Penn HS)'s single to right-center field in the third inning against the Lady Rams scored two runners for the Lady Lions. Lincoln had two hits for two runs in that inning for their only runs of the game. Alanna Van Ness (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway HS) reached on an error by the WSSU defense to get things started. Emily Woodruff (San Diego, CA/Madison HS) followed with a single to right field and then both runners were brought home by Smith's single.
 
Winston-Salem State scored seven runs in the first inning, four in the second inning, and seven in the third inning on 11 total hits. Lincoln's Kyla Sead (West Haven, CT/Hill Regional Career Magnet HS) struck out two batters and held the Lady Rams scoreless in the fourth inning.
 
Emily Woodruff (San Diego, CA/Madison HS) led the Lady Lions with two hits, while Toni Smith (New Castle, DE/William Penn HS) and Diedre Johnson both had one hit each.
 
ST. AUGUSTINE'S 23, LINCOLN 4
Avree Morton (Uniondale, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) nailed a three-run homer in the third inning against St. Augustine's on Sunday, March 23rd. Morton had two hits to lead the Lady Lions but the Lady Falcons won 23-4.
 
Lincoln produced five hits behind Morton's two and Alyssa Van Ness, Emily Woodruff (San Diego, CA/Madison HS), and Diedre Johnson all had one hit each. St. Augustine's had ten runs in the first inning, seven in the second inning, five runs in the third inning, and one run in the fourth inning.
 
The Lady Lions scored their fourth run in the fifth inning due to a throwing error by the Lady Falcons defense that scored Emily Woodruff (San Diego, CA/Madison HS). Pitcher Kyla Sead (West Haven, CT/Hill Regional Career Magnet HS) struck out one batter in four innings and had eight groundouts with three fly outs to help out the defense.
 
 
JOHNSON C. SMITH 14, LINCOLN 0
The Lady Lions wrapped up their five game Round-Up with the CIAA Southern Division against Johnson C. Smith University on Monday, March 24th. The Lady Golden Bulls won 14-0, behind  seven hits and one error by the Lady Lions defense.
 
Pitcher Kyla Sead (West Haven, CT/Hill Regional Career Magnet HS) struck out two batters in four innings at the mound. Two out of the three total hits by Lincoln went for double bases. Avree Morton (Uniondale, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) hit a double to left field in the first inning, Diedre Johnson had her double in the fifth inning, and Chauntel Seymour (Teaneck, NJ/Teaneck HS) bunted for a single.
 
Johnson C. Smith scored five runs in the second inning and nine in the third inning for the victory.
 
Lincoln's softball team drops to 0-7 overall. The Lady Lions travel to Elizabeth City, NC for a double header against the Lady Vikings on Tuesday, March 25th.
