Box Score MURFREESBORO, NC - George Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) scored 14 of team-high 16 points in the second half lifting the Lions to a close 60-58 victory over Chowan on Wednesday, February 19^th.  Jackson made 5-of-9 shots from the field including three shots from three-point range in the final half of play.

Lincoln's bench scored 15 points in the opening half behind junior guard Kyle Aiken (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS)'s eight points and senior guard Derrick Washington (Washington, DC/Coolidge SHS)'s five points. Aiken also made two three-pointers and senior guard Justin Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) matched him with a pair of shots from long range. Jackson had six points at the half and freshman forward Timothy McKenzie (Central Islip, NY/Central Islip HS) added six points on 3-of-4 shot attempts from the field. In an evenly matched first half, Chowan made five free-throws while Lincoln made only four which was the difference as the Hawks led 32-31 at halftime.

He also made three shots from behind the arc pacing the Lions with 14 points. Derrick Washington (Washington, DC/Coolidge SHS) added four points and Justin Jackson (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor HS) grabbed five rebounds in a back-and-forth battle between the Hawks and the Lions down the stretch.

Chowan made back-to-back three-pointers to tie the game for the seventh time at 57-57 with 2:29 left in regulation. Shortly after, Timothy McKenzie (Central Islip, NY/Central Islip HS) sank a pair of free-throws for a LU 59-58 advantage and then Derrick Washington (Washington, DC/Coolidge SHS) pushed the lead to 60-58 with 14 seconds. Chowan's final attempt at a three-pointer missed at the buzzer and the Lions held on for the victory. Lincoln's defense held Chowan without a point in the final two minutes and used free-throws to win their fifth game on the road.

Lincoln improves to 18-7 and heads to Virginia State on Saturday, February 22^nd for a 5:00 p.m. showdown with the Trojans in Petersburg, VA.
