Aiken’s Career-High 22 Spurs Lions Come From Behind Victory Against Mansfield, 88-76

MANSFIELD, Pa. - Kyle Aiken (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS) posted season-highs in both points and assists leading the Lions to an 88-76 road win at Mansfield University on Sunday, December 21st at Decker Gymnasium. Aiken scored 22 points and had seven assists as Lincoln remains undefeated on the road this season (3-0).

Lincoln made a season-best 32 field goals against Mansfield after falling behind by double figures in the first half. Mansfield led 37-24 with 4:36 left in the half behind solid bench play. Senior Kyle Aiken (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS) scored 14 points in the half while freshman Jordan Watson (Philadelphia, PA/Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) added eight points for the Lions. Both Aiken and Watson made shots from three-point range keeping Lincoln within striking distance as Mansfield led 46-38 at halftime.

The Lions turned it around in the second half shooting 65% (17-26) from the field and converting on 93% (14-15) of their free-throws. Senior Tony Efese (Spring Valley, NY/St. Joseph Regional HS) and junior Chaz Sharp (Baltimore, MD/Xavier University of Louisiana) both had 13 second half points anchoring a Lions come from behind road victory. Mansfield led 57-49 at the 14:48 mark when the Lions embarked on an 18-0 run to take a 67-57 lead with 8:19 left in regulation.  Sharp hit his only three-pointer giving the Lions their largest lead of the game (80-64). Kyle Aiken (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS), Chaz Sharp (Baltimore, MD/Xavier University of Louisiana), and freshman Quaman Burton (Richmond, VA/John Marshall HS) each made four free-throws for Lincoln, Tony Efese (Spring Valley, NY/St. Joseph Regional HS) was 6-for-8 from the field, and the Lions won their fourth straight game, 88-76.  

Kyle Aiken (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS)'s 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field with seven assists in 39 minutes played was a career-best for the Lions senior. Tony Efese (Spring Valley, NY/St. Joseph Regional HS) made a career-high 7-of-12 shots from the field finishing with 17 points, eight rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block filling up the stat sheet. Chaz Sharp (Baltimore, MD/Xavier University of Louisiana) led the LU bench with 13 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Sophomore Joshua Davis (Saginaw, MI/Louisburg Junior College) added nine points and Quaman Burton (Richmond, VA/John Marshall HS) had a career-high three steals with six points from the LU bench.

The Lions improve to 7-4 overall and will open up 2015 with a home CIAA contest against Winston-Salem State University on Saturday, January 3rd at 7:30 p.m. in Manuel Rivero Hall.
