LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Sophomore
De'jah Taylor (Nanuet, NY/Paramus Catholic Regional) scored a career-high 19 points leading the Lady Lions to a 72-60 non-conference victory over Georgian Court University on Saturday, December 13
th in Manuel Rivero Hall. Taylor was 8-for-11 shooting from the field and made a three-pointer.
De'jah Taylor (Nanuet, NY/Paramus Catholic Regional) scored eight of her game-high 19 points on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting from the field in the opening half. Lincoln had a difficult time early against Georgian Court's defense being held to 22% from the field and forced into 11 turnovers. The Lady Lions failed to lead in the half and trailed by as much as 13 points to Georgian Court. Georgian Court shot 44% (13-29) from the field and led Lincoln 30-25 at the half.
Lincoln responded with a solid second half led by their bench play. Junior
Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) and
De'jah Taylor (Nanuet, NY/Paramus Catholic Regional) combined for 19 points as the LU bench outscored GCU 41-28. Defensively, the Lady Lions forced 17 second half turnovers and held their opponents to 37% (9-24) from the field. Senior
Courtney Lucas (Washington, DC/Friendship Collegiate Academy) gave the Lady Lions their first lead of the game at the 15:48 mark after a steal and a layup (36-35). Lincoln never looked back from the point in the game and cruised to a 72-60 win at home.
De'jah Taylor (Nanuet, NY/Paramus Catholic Regional) recorded a career-high 19 points with five rebounds off of the Lady Lions bench.
Courtney Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Nicolet HS) added 11 points, seven assists, and made three shots from long range. Junior
Mieana Gaines (Lincoln Park, MI/Southfield University Academy) had a team-high 11 rebounds while
Courtney Lucas (Washington, DC/Friendship Collegiate Academy) had 10 rebounds.
The Lady Lions improve to 6-1 overall record and will travel to Wilmington, DE on Monday, December 15
th for a matchup against Goldey-Beacom College at 6 p.m.
