Lions Men's Basketball Falls To Millersville, 66-56

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Senior Tony Efese (Spring Valley, NY/St. Joseph Regional HS) was named to the CIAA-PSAC All-Challenge Team after leading the Lions with 15 points in a 66-56 loss to Millersville on Saturday, November 15th in Manuel Rivero Hall.

The Lions bench played a major role in the first half against Millersville holding a 13-4 point advantage. Junior Kristopher Curry-Davis (Baltimore, MD/Penn State York University) scored nine points for the Lions off of the bench while three starters had seven points each. Lincoln also controlled the rebounding battle early (23-13) with 12 offensive boards. Both teams shot above 40% from the field in the opening half and the Lions led 38-32 at halftime.

Millersville responded in the second half by holding the Lions to 26% (6-23) shooting from the field. The Lions saw their lead disappear by the 18:10 mark, but back-to-back three-pointers by senior Kyle Aiken (Randolph, NJ/Randolph HS) gave Lincoln a 44-42 lead with 15-minutes left in regulation. Senior Tony Efese (Spring Valley, NY/St. Joseph Regional HS) scored five straight points for the Lions extending their lead until Millersville converted on a crucial four-point play that got them right back into the game.

In the final ten minutes Millersville held Lincoln to seven points with their defensive pressure and came from behind for the win, 66-56.

Tony Efese (Spring Valley, NY/St. Joseph Regional HS) scored a game-high 15 points and had five rebounds, a steal, block, and assist for the Lions. He was named to the 2014 CIAA-PSAC All-Challenge Team. Junior Chaz Sharp (Baltimore, MD/Xavier University of Louisiana) had 11 points on a perfect 5-of-5 attempts from the free-throw line. Sophomore Joshua Davis (Saginaw, MI/Louisburg Junior College) recorded a game-high eight rebounds and added four points. Kristopher Curry-Davis (Baltimore, MD/Penn State York University) finished with nine points and senior Alonzo Murphy (Pittsburgh, PA/California University (PA)) had seven points, five rebounds, and two blocks.  

Lincoln will look for their first win of the season against Chestnut Hill on Tuesday, November 18th at 7:30 p.m. in Manuel Rivero Hall.
