Scott Pounds Out 100 Yards Rushing Against Virginia State

ETTRICK, Va. – Running back Stephen Scott (Baltimore, MD/Bethel College) rushed for over 100 yards for the second time this season in a 63-7, loss to Virginia State University on Saturday, October 25.

After holding the Trojans scoreless in the third quarter, Lincoln's defense forced a turnover in the fourth quarter that led to their only score of the game. Junior defensive back Brion Robinson (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook HS) forced and recovered a VSU fumble and returned it 14-yards for a touchdown at the 7:48 mark in the fourth quarter cutting into the Trojans lead 49-7.  

Lincoln found success against Virginia State with a steady rushing attack. Sophomore running back Stephen Scott (Baltimore, MD/Bethel College) collected 100 yards rushing averaging 3.6 yards per carry. The Lions finished with 14 first downs and 187 total offensive yards. In his second start leading the Lions, junior quarterback Edward McKenzie (Paterson, NJ/Lackwanna College) had nine completions for 81 total yards finding four wide receivers against the Trojans. Sophomore wide receiver Larquise Hobbs (Lansing, MI/J.W. Sexton HS) led the bunch with three catches for 39 yards. Junior wide receiver Brandon Rowe (Harlem, NY/Hudson Valley CC) also had three catches for 16 yards, senior Akeem Jordan (Washington, DC/Carroll HS) had a pair of receptions for 13 yards, and junior Anthony Green (Chester, PA/Upper Darby HS) had one reception for 13 yards.

Defensively, senior linebacker Gavin Lampkin (Baltimore, Md./W.E.B. Dubois HS) had a game-high 11 tackles including 8 solo stops. Sophomore Wadel Louis (Miami, FL/North Miami Beach HS) finished with six tackles while both junior Brion Robinson (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook HS) and senior Tyahir Mitchell (Wilmington, DE/Howard HS) had five tackles each.

The Lions fall to 1-7 overall record with a 0-5 CIAA record. Lincoln will host Bowie State University in their next game on Saturday, November 1st at 1 p.m.
