RICHMOND, Va. – Sophomore
Kyra Orton (Detroit, MI/Renaissance HS) had a game-high four service aces in a 3-1 (25-18, 19-25, 28-26, 25-20) loss to Virginia Union University on Monday, October 20
th.
The Lions dropped the first set to the Panthers 25-18, but responded with great play in the next set to tie the match, 1-1. Juniors
Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) and
Toni Smith (New Castle, DE/William Penn HS) led Lincoln to a second set victory (25-19) each slamming four kills into the Panthers defense. Freshman
Ashanti Price (Upper Marlboro, MD/Bishop McNamara HS) added three kills and five digs defensively in the second set. Lincoln posted a game-best .270 attack percentage with 14 kills and held composure with only four team errors.
Virginia Union went on to pull out a close, 28-26, win in the third set and sealed the match (3-1) at home in the fourth set (25-20).
Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) recorded four kills in the third set while
Ashanti Price (Upper Marlboro, MD/Bishop McNamara HS) had four in the fourth set leading the Lions attack. With the win the Panthers move to a 9-12 overall record and the Lions fall to 3-15 overall.

Ashanti Price (Upper Marlboro, MD/Bishop McNamara HS) had 11 kills, 15 digs, and two service aces followed by
Toni Smith (New Castle, DE/William Penn HS)'s 10 kills. Junior
Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) and sophomore
Shanna King (Newark, NJ/University High School) matched each other with 17 assists setting up their teammates at the net. Defensively, Cook collected a team-high 20 digs against the Panthers. Sophomore
Kyra Orton (Detroit, MI/Renaissance HS) had 17 digs to go along with four service aces and freshman
Soyini Hugget (Bear, DE/Del Castle HS) had 12 digs.
Lincoln heads to Ettrick, VA on October 27
th for a CIAA Northern Divisional match against Virginia State University at 7 p.m.
