ETTRICK, Va. – The women's volleyball team was shutout 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-14) by Virginia State University on Monday, October 28
th on the road. Freshman
Ashanti Price (Upper Marlboro, MD/Bishop McNamara HS) had a team-high six kills against the Trojans.
The Lions and the Trojans battled in an exciting opening set. There were three lead changes and five tied scores that fell in VSU's favor in a 25-19 victory. Lincoln produced seven team kills led by
Ashanti Price (Upper Marlboro, MD/Bishop McNamara HS)'s and junior
Toni Smith (New Castle, DE/William Penn HS)'s two kills apiece.
Lincoln struggled in the next two sets that resulted in a Trojans 3-0 sweep. Defensively, sophomore
Kyra Orton (Detroit, MI/Renaissance HS) had 14 digs followed by senior
Tarayja Brooks (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett HS)' eight digs. Sophomore
Shanna King (Newark, NJ/University High School) had eight assists setting up her teammates at the net.
With the loss Lincoln falls to 3-16 overall and 1-13 in the CIAA. The Lions will host the University of the Sciences in Manuel Rivero Hall for their annual Dig Pink Game at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29
th.
