LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lions volleyball team dominated Cheyney University in the Battle of The Firsts, sweeping the Wolves 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-22) in convincing fashion on Wednesday, October 15
th in Manuel Rivero Hall.
Lincoln avenged a heart-breaking 3-2 loss in their season opener to Cheyney on the road. The Lions were led by junior
Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute)'s game-high 12 kills and freshman
Ashanti Price (Upper Marlboro, MD/Bishop McNamara HS)'s 10 kills in the victory. Lee led the charge in the first set with six kills while Price matched her in the second set slamming in six kills for the Lions.
Sophomore
Shanna King (Newark, NJ/University High School) and junior
Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) were excellent setting up their teammates. King had a team-high 14 assists and Cook pitched in with 10 assists. Defensively, sophomore
Kyra Orton (Detroit, MI/Renaissance HS) tied for a game-high with 14 digs. Senior
Tarayja Brooks (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett HS) collected 12 digs and had a pair of service aces against the Wolves.
The Lions (3-11) return to action on Monday with a CIAA Northern Divisional matchup against Virginia Union University on Monday, October 20
th at 6 p.m.
