Women’s Soccer Returns to Winning Ways, Blank Chowan 2-0

MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The women's soccer team at The Lincoln University shutout the Hawks of Chowan University on the road with two goals in the second half on Sunday, October 12th. Freshman Taylor Brookins (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township HS) scored her first goal of the season in the 56th minute from an assist by sophomore Christian Harris (Rochester, NY/The Aquinas Institute).
 
After a scoreless first half of play, the Lions used two goals in a span of 12-minutes to catapult their way to their third road victory of the season. In the 56th minute, Lincoln's Taylor Brookins (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township HS) recorded her first collegiate goal with a shot off the far post from a Christian Harris (Rochester, NY/The Aquinas Institute) assist. Harris continued her stellar play with a goal in the 68th minute after beating the goalie and nailing her fourth goal of the season from a senior Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School) assist.
 
Goalkeeper Emily Woodruff (San Diego, CA/Madison HS) had six saves protecting the Lions net. Lincoln out-shot Chowan, 24-7, in a match that was dominated by the Lions on the road.
 
Christian Harris (Rochester, NY/The Aquinas Institute) and sophomore Alanna Van Ness (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway HS) each had seven shot attempts followed by Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School)'s and senior Courtney Moss (Freeport, Bahamas/Sunland Baptist Academy)' three shots. O'Brien, Van Ness, and Moss led the Lions with two shots on goal along with Harris and Brookins single attempts that scored goals.
 
The Lions record improves to 5-5-1 overall, while the Hawks drop to 1-10 overall. Their next match is against Felician College on Thursday, October 23rd at 4p.m. inside LU Stadium.
