ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – Junior
Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) had a career-high 19 kills, but the Vikings of Elizabeth City State pulled out a close 3-2 (25-27, 26-24, 25-23, 23-25, 11-15) victory over Lincoln on Sunday, October 12
th.
Lincoln fought in a hard battle forcing the Vikings into 33 total errors and great play in the second and third sets. The Lions produced 16 kills in the second set and 14 in the third leading to victories.
Three players had at least 13 kills and four players had at least 13 digs on the road for the Lions.
Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute)'s 19 kills led the way along with 13 kills from both freshman
Ashanti Price (Upper Marlboro, MD/Bishop McNamara HS) and junior
Toni Smith (New Castle, DE/William Penn HS). Sophomore
Shanna King (Newark, NJ/University High School) had a team-high 30 assists with junior
Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) adding 13 assists setting up her teammates.
Defensively, sophomore
Kyra Orton (Detroit, MI/Renaissance HS) had a game-high 20 digs. Price collected 19 digs, senior
Tarayja Brooks (Kennett Square, PA/Kennett HS) had 15 digs, and Cook had 13 digs.
The Lions record after the loss is now 2-13 overall with a 1-11 record in CIAA play.
