Lady Lions suffer doubleheader setback against Hawks

Lincoln dropped two games to Chowan in a CIAA doubleheader

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. –
The Lincoln University softball team dropped two games on Saturday afternoon in CIAA action as the Lady Lions lost 12-0, and 13-2, to Chowan at the Lincoln University Softball Field.
 
In the first game, Chowan (18-18 overall, 11-0 CIAA) plated five in the first and didn't look back in a 12-0 win.
 
Erin Rucker (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights HS) (4-12) took the loss in five innings of work.
 
Alora Lincoln (9-9) picked up the win with five innings of one-hit ball.
 
In the second game, the Hawks broke open a close game with a six-run fourth to roll to a 13-2 victory.
 
Danielle Owes (Edgewater Park, N.J./Burlington County Institute of Technology) and Jasmine Dabney (Baltimore, Md./New Town HS) collected one hit each.
 
Rucker worked five innings in picking up the loss.
 
Courtney Groce (8-6) pitched five innings to get the win as she surrendered two unearned runs.
 
 
The Lady Lions (5-15, 3-11) close out their 2013 home campaign, 1 p.m., Sunday, April 7 against Elizabeth City State in a CIAA doubleheader.
