Lady Lions drop pair of matches on the road

RICHMOND, Va. - The Lincoln University women's tennis team played its second CIAA match in three days as the Lady Lions fell to Virginia Union, 9-0, on Monday and lost to Bowie State, 9-0, on Saturday.

Against the Lady Panthers, Lincoln (1-4) dropped all three doubles matches and the six singles matches in the loss. Urszula Koczkodaj (Szczecin, Poland/)'s match at No. 4 singles against April George highlighted the day for Lincoln. Koczkodaj fell to George, 6-2, 6-3.

On Saturday against Bowie State, the Lady Lions trailed 3-0 entering singles play, but Lincoln refused to go away quietly. At No. 1 singles, Shari Davis (Clinton, Md./Gwynn Park HS) lost to Iyabode Sodipo, 8-4, and Sharmain Henderson lost to Antoinque Johnson, 9-8 (7-4). At No. 3 singles, Haley Hendricks (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) lost to Channae Manning, 8-2, and Koczkodaj fell to Kassandra Bishop, 8-3.

Lincoln returns to action Saturday in Petersburg, Va., in a CIAA match against Virginia State University.
