Box Score RICHMOND, Va. – Jasmine Dabney (Baltimore, Md./New Town HS), who went 2-for-4, delivered a walk-off base hit to left center to cap a furious comeback as Lincoln rallied for an 8-7 victory over Livingstone during the final day of the CIAA Roundup on Sunday afternoon at Parker Field.
Lincoln (3-2 overall, 1-2 CIAA) fell behind 4-0 in the top of the first inning and trailed 6-0 midway through the fourth inning.
The Lady Lions began the rally with a three-run fourth as
Emily Woodruff (San Diego, CA/Madison HS), who went 1-for-3, began the frame with a single to center and stole second. With one out, she advanced on a passed ball and scored when
Avree Morton (Uniondale, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) drew a base on balls.
Toni Smith (New Castle, DE/William Penn HS) doubled down the line in left to score Morton and came in to score on a wild pitch to cut the margin to 6-3.
Lincoln continued to chip away at the deficit as
Danielle Owes (Edgewater Park, N.J./Burlington County Institute of Technology) reached on a fielder's choice and stole second. She came in to score when
Erin Rucker (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights HS) reached on an error with an error.
Livingstone answered with a run in the top of the sixth to grab a 7-4 advantage.
The Lady Lions continued to mount a rally as Lincoln scored three runs in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at 7.
Smith, who went 2-for-3, was hit by a pitch to start the inning and stole second. She moved to third on a wild pitch and
Mariah Coates (Reading, Pa./Reading HS) was hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners with one out. Coates stole second and
Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School), who was 1-for-3, reached on an infield hit to score Smith from third.
Jasmine Dabney (Baltimore, Md./New Town HS) reached on an error and advanced all the way to third as Coates and O'Brien scored to tie the game.
Lincoln completed the rally in the bottom of the seventh.
Smith opened the inning with a base hit to left center.
Mariah Liberty (Waterbury, Vt./Harwood Union HS) followed with a walk and both advanced a base when Coates struck out. After a long battle at the plate, O'Brien drew a walk to load the bases. Dabney stepped up and delivered a base hit to left center to give Lincoln the walk-off victory.
Erin Rucker (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights HS) gave up six runs on five hits with five walks and five strikeouts in four innings of work.
Danielle Owes (Edgewater Park, N.J./Burlington County Institute of Technology) (1-0) picked up the win in relief. She pitched three innings and gave up a run, walked five and fanned six.
Shaniqua Harrison took the loss in 6.1 innings. She surrendered eight runs (five earned) on six hits with six walks and six strikeouts.
Lincoln looks to keep the momentum going as it steps out of CIAA action with a non-conference doubleheader 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 13 in Wilmington, Del., against Goldey-Beacom College.
