Lions Volleyball Drop Match to Virginia State, 0-3

Box Score Petersburg, VA – Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) had a game-high 15 digs to lead Lincoln against Virginia State, but the Trojans swept the Lions 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 27-25) on Monday, October 7th.
 
Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) had eight kills on 27 total attacks and Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) added five kills on nine attacks for the Lions.
 
Shanna King (Newark, NJ/University High School) paced Lincoln with 15 assists as the Lions connected on 18 kills against Virginia State. The Lions volleyball team scored on seven service aces against the Trojans.
 
Kyra Orton (Detroit, MI/Renaissance HS) led with four service aces, while Toni Smith (New Castle, DE/William Penn HS) and Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) each had one service ace apiece. Orton pitched in with four assisted blocks and Jillian Lee (Baltimore, MD/Baltimore Poly Institute) had two assisted blocks and one solo block.
 
Sydney Cook (Portland, OR/Cleveland HS) recorded a game-high 15 digs to lead both teams. Both Toni Smith (New Castle, DE/William Penn HS) and Kyra Orton (Detroit, MI/Renaissance HS) had eight digs each and Shanna King (Newark, NJ/University High School) had five digs.
 
The Lions fall to 2-10, 2-9 CIAA. In their next match, the Lincoln University women's volleyball team will host Virginia-Lynchburg at 7 p.m. in Lincoln University, PA.
