Cook completed four passes including a 24-yard reception by wide out Steve Morris that setup the Lions offense on the Virginia Union 16-yard line. Kyle Jaski (Escondido, Calif./Kenwood HS) kicked the extra-point cutting into the Virginia Union lead 14-7.
Lincoln's linebackers
Gavin Lampkin (Baltimore, Md./W.E.B. Dubois HS) and
Dawan Marzett (Los Angeles, CA/Westchester HS) anchored the defense on the ensuing drive. Lampkin had three tackles leading the Lions defense that forced a Panther fumble on fourth and short. The fumble gave the Lions just over two minutes to tie the game before the half.
Beginning on their own 48-yard line,
Doug Cook (Dania Beach, FL/University School of Nova SE University) and the Lions offense completed four passes and tied the game with a 40-yard touchdown pass. Once again it was the Cook to Jordan connection that hooked up for the Lions longest play of the afternoon. Jordan grabbed his second score of the game with 1:10 left in the half and after a

Cook was 8 of 11 with 96 passing yards in the second quarter alone and led the Lions to back-to-back touchdowns passes.
The Panthers continued to use their rushing attack in the third quarter with 15 attempts for 115 yards. Virginia Union took the lead with a 4-yard rushing touchdown with 4:36 remaining in the third quarter and extended their lead to 28-14 in the beginning of the fourth quarter on a 6-yard rushing touchdown. With 12:11 left in the fourth quarter, Lincoln trailed by two scores.
Battling from their 25-yard line the Lions offense mixed it up with nine rushes for 21 yards and six passes for 39 yards on a nine minute drive. The Panthers defense committed five penalties helping the offense to a first and goal on the 1-yard line with 2:37 remaining in the game. Running back
John Taggart (Philadelphia, PA/Wilmington Friends School) capped the drive with a one yard rushing touchdown for the Lions. Lincoln trailed 28-21 late in the fourth quarter and looked for their defense to come up with a big stop.
The Lions held the Panthers offense and faced third and long with under a minute left in the game. Virginia Union picked up a 12-yard gain for a first down and sealed the victory over Lincoln, 28-21. The Lions ran out of time against the Panthers offense that rushed for 359 yards and four rushing touchdowns.
On special teams,
Kyle Jaski (Escondido, Calif./Kenwood HS) netted a career-long 72-yard punt against the Panthers and averaged a season-best 56.2 yards per punt. The Lions returned four kickoffs for a season-best 106 yards. Return specialist
