LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University football team opens CIAA play on Saturday as the Lions travel to Salisbury, N.C., to take on Livingstone College.

THE EVENT: The Lions and Blue Bears each are seeking their first victory of the season and both are looking to start CIAA action in the win column.
Lincoln comes into the contest off a 35-23 loss to Kentucky State, while Livingstone enters off a loss to Edward Waters.
Lincoln is paced offensively by
Doug Cook (Dania Beach, FL/University School of Nova SE University), who opened the season with 345 yards passing. The Lions also feature talented receivers Matt Coston (20 receptions, 227 yards) and
Philip Jean-Juste (Miami, Fla. /North Miami Beach HS) (17 catches, 162) yards. All-American defensive end
Tim Green (Fanwood, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood HS) leads the Lions' defense with 29 tackles and four sacks. He also has 11 tackles for loss, which currently leads NCAA Division II in that category.
Livingstone features a potent offense that averages 428.7 yards and 29.3 points per game. Blue Bears quarterback Drew Powell leads the CIAA, averaging 314 passing yards a game has thrown eight touchdowns.
Despite the offensive output, the Blue Bears are giving up 473.7 yards and 53.7 points a game.
THE SERIES: The series is tied at 1. Lincoln won the last meeting, 10-0, in 2009.
