LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa.- The Lincoln University women's cross country team defeated rival Cheyney, 21-34, in the 5K “Battle of the First Kick-Off” meet on Thursday at Lincoln University.
“It was a great meet,” Lincoln head coach Rafeal “Ray” Williams said. “We were able to take advantage of good weather on campus. Our aim was to get out with the pack and finish strong.”
Leading the pack was Lady Lions
Shana Brown (Baltimore, MD/Institute of Notre Dame), who won the 5K race in 22 minutes, 54 seconds. She was followed by teammates
Shannon Spaulding (Stamford, CT/Westhill HS), who finished second in 24:18, and third-place finisher
Kaydee-Ann White (Bronx, NY/Christopher Columbus HS), who ran 24:59.
Imani Jones (Nutley, NJ/Bloomfield HS) placed sixth in 27:42 and
Alexis Cubbage (North Plainfield, NJ/Union Catholic HS) took eighth in 29:33.
Next on the Lady Lions' schedule is the University of Wilmington Invitational in Wilmington, Del., which is slated for Saturday, Sept. 8.
