Lady Lions conclude season with a pair of losses

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Lincoln University softball team ended its season on Saturday afternoon with a 9-1 and 13-0 loss to Chowan University in a CIAA Northern Division doubleheader at Hawks Softball Field.
 
In the first game, Lincoln fell behind early and tried to rally by scoring a run in the fourth, but it wasn't enough.
 
In the fourth with one out, Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) walked and advanced to second when Avree Morton (Uniondale, N.Y./Holy Trinity HS) grounded out. Jasmine Baxter (Washington, D.C./McKinnley Tech HS), who went 1-for-1, reached on an infield hit, which plated DuBose.
 
Erin Rucker (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights HS) took the loss by pitching four innings. She gave up nine runs (eight earned) on nine hits with three walks and a strikeout.
 
Mariah Liberty (Waterbury, Vt./Harwood Union HS) (1-for-2) and Sarah Danaher (Waitsfield, Vt./Harwood Union HS) (1-for-2) also collected hits for the Lady Lions.
 
In the second game, Rucker took the loss in four innings of work and Morton had the lone hit for Lincoln.
 
The Lady Lions ended its season with a 2-24 overall record and graduates one senior – Jasmine Baxter (Washington, D.C./McKinnley Tech HS).
