Lincoln can't slow down Elizabeth City State

Box Score LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University men's basketball team couldn't slow down Elizabeth City State as the Lions fell on Tuesday night, 77-53, in a CIAA Northern Division showdown at Manuel Rivero Hall.
 
“That team (Elizabeth City State) is a tough matchup for us,” Lincoln head coach John Hill said. “We're really small and we're playing under sized guys in the post. We play hard and we scratch hard. The night was just a testament to them being bigger and being able to take advantage of their size.”
 
Kenny Sharpe (Chester, Pa./Elite Academy) paced Lincoln (10-13 overall, 5-7 CIAA, 3-3 CIAA Northern) with 13 points on 5-of-8 shooting. Derrick Washington (Washington, DC/Coolidge SHS) added 10 points as the Lions were 16-of-51 shooting for 31 percent.
 
The Vikings (11-11, 5-7, 3-3) broke open a close first half with a 24-10 run to take a 39-24 lead after a pair of free throws by Lawrence Williams with 1:39 remaining. Elizabeth City State took a 42-26 advantage into the break.
 
Elizabeth City State out-scored Lincoln in the second half, 35-27, to get the win.
 
Rondy Tucker led the Vikings with 22 points, while Omar Jones had 12. Quintin Spady and Angelo Sharpless each had 11 points as Elizabeth City State shot 50 percent (26-of-52) from the field.
