Shorthanded Lady Lions drop 2-1 decision to Lady Hawks

Box Score OXFORD, Pa. – The shorthanded Lincoln University women's soccer team took a lead into the second half, but couldn't hang on against Chowan in a 2-1 loss on Sunday afternoon at Oxford High School.
 
The Lady Lions (4-8), who played the match with 10 players, dominated most of the first half by out-shooting the Lady Hawks, 13-6. Lincoln broke a 0-0 tie in the 19th minute as Tara O'Brien (Twickenham London, UK/St. Mark's Catholic School) scored her career-high 16th goal off an assist from Haley Hendricks (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) to give the Lady Lions a 1-0 advantage.
 
However, Chowan (2-13) scored a pair of second-half goals – both by Emily Cross – to get the victory.
 
Sinforosa Sima (Scarsdale, N.Y./Mount Vernon HS) recorded four saves for Lincoln, while Jennifer Harvell had eight for Chowan.
 
The Lady Lions had the edge in shots, 18-16, but the Lady Hawks held a 14-8 advantage in corner kicks.
 
Lincoln takes to the road one final time this season with a 7 p.m., match on Tuesday, Oct. 23 in Washington, D.C., against Howard University.
