Johnson tallies seven kills in loss

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. —
Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) had seven kills, but it wasn't enough as the Lincoln University volleyball team lost to Virginia State, 3-0, on Friday night in a CIAA Northern Division tilt at Manuel Rivero Hall.
 
The Lady Trojans (4-10 overall, 4-4 in the CIAA and 1-1 in Northern Division play) won the match with scores of 25-9, 25-17, 25-15.
 
Johnson led the charge for Lincoln (0-17, 0-8, 0-2) with seven kills and four digs. Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) finished with eight assists. Jasmine Graves (Bay Shore, N.Y./Brentwood HS) tallied eight digs and Zakiya Williams (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco Center for the Arts) added four digs.
 
Nikkisha Walker and Megan Whiten each recorded five kills to lead Virginia State. Jasmine Henderson registered 17 assists and five digs.
 
Lincoln continues its two-match CIAA Northern Division homestand 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 24 at Manuel Rivero Hall against Virginia Union.
