BOWIE, Md. — Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) and
Zakiya Williams (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco Center for the Arts) each had nine kills, but it wasn't enough to propel the Lincoln University volleyball team as the Lady Lions dropped a CIAA Northern Division heartbreaker to Bowie State, 3-0, on Wednesday night.
Bowie State (2-11 overall, 2-5 CIAA) won the match with scores of 25-15, 26-24, 25-23.
Johnson had a .333 hitting percentage to lead the Lady Lions (0-16, 0-7), while finishing with a team-high 11 digs. Williams was right behind Johnson with a .222 hitting percentage and added eight digs.
Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) had 13 assists.
Erin Rucker (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights HS) chipped in with nine digs.
Jenahye` Johnson paced Bowie State with 10 kills, while Cara Nance added nine. Paige McIntosh finished with 19 assists. Nace and Jasmine Nixon recorded 12 and 10 digs, respectively.
Lincoln returns to action 5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 23 at Manuel Rivero Hall against Virginia State in a CIAA Northern Division contest.
