Freshmen promising in opening Round-up

ETTRICK, Va. (March 13, 2011) — Freshmen Uniquewa Rogers (Trenton, N.J./Pennsbury HS) and Shari Davis (Clinton, Md./Gwynn Park HS) played solidly in their debut weekend for the Lincoln University women's team, routinely posting the team's most competitive scores at the first of three Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-ups.

To begin the 2011 season, the Lady Lions fell to both Fayetteville State University and defending CIAA champion Shaw University 9-0 and lost 8-1 to Saint Augustine's College in the season's opening contest.

Rogers picked up the lone win, a convincing 6-0, 6-2 win in the third singles spot over Saint Augustine's Fantashia Howard. Davis and Sherllina Holland teamed up for LU's best showing in the doubles, falling 6-8 in the third spot.

Against the Lady Broncos Saturday afternoon, Rogers and Davis won LU's lone games in doubles versus the Lady Broncos, falling 5-8. Rogers also put up Lincoln's best resistance in singles, falling 0-6, 5-7.
