Hawks exact revenge on Lions

MURFREESBORO, N.C. (February 10, 2011) — Denzel Mooney (Baltimore, Md./Western School of Technology)'s 12th game with at least 20 points was not enough as the Lincoln University men's basketball team fell, 73-61, to Chowan University (4-18, 3-11 CIAA, 3-5 North)at the Helms Center Thursday night.

Mooney finished with a game-high 23 points and scored LU's final six of the game. He also led LU (2-19, 1-13 CIAA, 1-7 North) with seven rebounds. Quinton Hector (Schertz, Texas/Samuel Clemens HS) contributed 10 points.

In a role reversal, Lincoln had won the earlier meeting between the two schools. On Jan. 24, the Lions easily handled Chowan, 75-62, at Manuel Rivero Hall.

The Hawks had three players in double figures including Deandre Tyree who finished with 13 points and an impressive 11 rebounds for the double-double.

The Lions begin their final homestand with a tilt against Bowie State. Last Saturday, the battle between the CIAA divisional foes went to overtime before the Bulldogs held off the upstart Lions, 91-88 at A.C. Jordan Arena.
