LU fights hard in losing effort to ECSU

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa.  —
In front of a packed house, the Lincoln University volleyball team gave great effort, but fell just short as Elizabeth City State defeated the Lady Lions, 3-0, on Friday night during the Volley of the Cure match at Manuel Rivero Hall.
 
The Lady Vikings (14-10 overall, 10-3 CIAA) held off the Lady Lions (1-26, 0-15) in the opening set, 25-22, and took the next two games, 25-10 and 25-13 for the match.
 
Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) paced the Lincoln offense with four kills, while Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) added eight assists. Johnson and Zakiya Williams (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco Center for the Arts) each had five digs on the defensive end.
 
Whitney Green led Elizabeth City State with 13 kills and Regan Smith had 21 assists.
 
Lincoln concludes it season 6 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26 at Manuel Rivero Hall against Bowie State in a CIAA Northern Division contest.
