WILMINGTON, Del. — The Lincoln University volleyball team registered 20 kills, but it wasn't enough as the Lady Lions dropped a 3-0 decision to Goldey-Beacom on Tuesday night at the Jones Center.
The Lightning (12-11) took the match with scores of 25-8, 25-12, 25-20.
Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) and
Zakiya Williams (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco Center for the Arts) each had five kills, while
Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) finished with four. DuBose led the Lady Lions (1-25) with 10 assists. Williams and
Jasmine Graves (Bay Shore, N.Y./Brentwood HS) paced the defense with six digs apiece.
Catherine Howard recorded 12 kills and the tandem of Monica Dempsey and Roni Shaner combined for 27 of Goldey-Beacom's 30 assists. Dempsey and Renee DeLeo each had four digs.
Lincoln returns to CIAA Northern Division play as the Lady Lions play host 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21 to Elizabeth City State in the annual Volley For The Cure match.
