Lady Lions tripped up by Lady Hawks

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa.  —
A day after picking up its first win of the season, the Lincoln University volleyball team returned to CIAA Northern Division action and dropped a 3-0 decision to Chowan on Friday afternoon at Manuel Rivero Hall.
 
The Lady Hawks (20-4 overall, 13-0 CIAA) took the match with scores of 25-7, 25-7, 25-14.
 
Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, MD/Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) and Zakiya Williams (Baltimore, Md./Patapsco Center for the Arts) each had three kills to lead Lincoln (1-24, 0-13). Sharay Dubose added six assists, while Johnson led the way defensively with five digs.
 
Karina Monroe and Monica Ruffin led Chowan with 14 and 11 kills, respectively. Allison Smith tallied 22 assists, while Callie Armistead had 15. Tori Lewis recorded eight digs.
 
Lincoln steps out of CIAA Northern Division play 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 18 in Wilmington, Del., against Goldey-Beacom.
