LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. — Lincoln University freshman Cynthia Johnson (Randallstown, Md./Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) established herself as the premier new edition to the Lady Lions volleyball team. In the first game Johnson racked up four kills leaving spectators on edge and anticipation of how her play will elevate in games to come.
Despite the efforts, LU (2-17) dropped its match to Millersville, 3-0 (11-25, 15-25, 17-25). Although it was certainly a disappointing loss for the Lady Lions volleyball team, this promising young squad, led by Johnson, has much volleyball ahead of it.
“One day when she blossoms, she's going to be phenomenal,” coach Schannon Gamble said. “She's up and down like any freshman, but when she puts it together, she's going to be something special.”
In addition to Johnson's play sophomore Lia Hubbard (Farrell, Pa./Farrell) contributed with an outstanding 14 assist. Hubbard did an excellent job of setting up Noel Webster (Hagerstown, Md./Elkton) who put down a team high 10 kills. Sophomore Morris (San Bernardino, Calif./San Gorgino) would also hammered both of LU's aces.

For now it would best suit them to keep their heads up as they soon get ready to do battle with the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State University on Saturday.
