On Tuesday against Virginia Union, the Lincoln University softball team held a Strike Out Cancer Day, raising money for cancer research and the families of the vicitms. LU also honored cancer Lincoln employees Kelly Griffith (Mail and Copy Center) and Linda Peterson (Athletics) as well as Georgiana Talley (Mother of Ms. Peterson), each of whom has battled and survived breast cancer.

On the field proved equally memorable as the Lincoln women earned the first CIAA sweep in team history by defeating the Lady Panthers, 4-2 and 10-8. The second game was won on a three-run homer by Sasha Evans (Hampton, VA/Phoebus).
