Reid-Bey outduels CIAA as LU wins two

PETERSBURG, Va. — The talent displayed by Stephanie Henry (Pleasantville, N.J., Pleasantville)and Leslie Reid-Bey (Sickelerville, NJ, Winslow Township)at the CIAA Round-up may be indications of great things to come for the LU women's tennis team.

Teamed together at No. 1 doubles, Henry, a sophomore, and Reid-Bey, a freshman, found little resitance, going 6-3 in doubles on the Virginia State campus. Henry picked up five wins at the No. 2 singles spot while Reid-Bey picked up a pair of wins at No. 1 singles.

The Lady Lions went just 2-7, but the youngsters showed promise and leadership capabilities while anchoring the LU squad.

In addition to a doubles win by Henry and Reid-Bey and a singles win by Henry, Doreen Renee King (Washington, D.C., Calvin Coolidge) and Shellina Holland won No. 2 doubles. King won 8-2 at No. 3 singles as Holland's 8-4 win at No. 6 singles assured victory. LU would go on to win 7-2.

Against Saint Paul's, LU enjoyed similar results but this time, Reid-Bey won her singles match, 8-0, for an 8-1 Lady Lions win.

The Lady Lions sit at 2-8 overall and enjoy a lengthy break before playing Trinity of D.C. on the road at 1 p.m.
