BOWIE, Md., — Tanina Cook (Landover, MD/Charles Herbert Flowers) went 2-for-3 with a double and a RBI Saturday versus Virginia Union at the Bowie State Tournament.

The Lady Panthers defeated the lady Lions, 8-6. Taylor Hines (Beachwood, OH/Beachwood) took the loss, allowing all eight runs (six earned) on 11 hits. She also struck out 10.

In the night cap, Lincoln lost 14-3 to Hampton University.

Against VUU, LU scored first in the bottom of the second, the first of which came on an RBI double from Mariah Liberty (Waterbury, Vt./Harwood Union HS). After a passed ball DeJuana Mosley (Chester, PA/Chester) singled in Liberty for a 2-0 Lincoln lead.

Virginia Union responded with five in the top of the third capped by a two-run single by Gabrielle Easley.

In the seventh, Lincoln attempted to cut into an 8-5 deficit when Cook singled in Sasha Evans (Hampton, VA/Phoebus) but could not muster the two runs needed to send the game into extras.
