LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. — The Lincoln University women's soccer team honored three seniors in their final home game after a match with Bloomfield College. Although, Lincoln fell 8-0, there was more reason to celebrate than to fret.
The honorees were team captain Charlise Cunningham (Long Island, NY/Bayshore), midfielder Joy Floyd (Logan Twp., NJ/Kingsway Regional), an asset at many positions, and Nailah Davidson, a one-year player who spent time as a defender, midfielder and forward. The ladies were given awards, flowers and commended for their many attributes to the team.
As for the game, the ladies were unable to end the home schedule with a win. Bloomfield (5-12-1) scored two goals within the first 10 minutes and kept the ball for the majority of the game. Cunningham, who had four career goals, recorded one of Lincoln's three shots. Isata Panda recorded four saves, three coming in the second half.
The game was also the last contest to be held at Lions Field. Construction has already begun on the future site of an outdoor complex that will feature a football and track stadium, baseball field, softball field, tennis courts and practice space.
