Lady Lions conclude 2010 CIAA season with split

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. — The Lincoln University women's volleyball team participated in a triangular to conclude the CIAA regular-season schedule. Lincoln first fell to host Elizabeth City State 3-0 (14-25, 17-25, 11-25) before recovering for a sweep of Saint Paul's College, 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-12).

Senior Noel Webster (Hagerston, MD/Elkton) had a combined 18 kills (11 versus ECSU, eight versus Saint Paul's) to lead the Lady Lions.

With the loss to the Lady Vikings, LU (5-25, 4-15 CIAA, 5-8 North) did not qualify for the CIAA Championships, hosted Nov. 10-14 in Hampton, Va. The Lady Vikings won the North with a perfect 13-0 record, which they clinched earlier in the week.

Only the top four teams from each division advance to the tournament, and although Lincoln and Virginia Union each have five division wins, VUU has one remaining match in the division and holds the tiebreakers over LU with the head-to-head matchup and cross-divisional record.
