Lady Lions complete season sweep of Bowie State

Box Score

BOWIE, Md. — Behind 13 kills, nine digs and five aces by sophomore outside hitter Nekia Morris (San Bernadino, CA/San Gorgonio), the Lincoln University volleyball team earned the season sweep of Bowie State University.

In the previous matchup on Sep. 23, the two schools went the distance, going five games, but the Lady Lions disposed of BSU in quickly Tuesday night, 25-17, 25-20, 29-27, at A.C. Jordan Arena.

Lincoln's (4-23, 4-12 CIAA, 4-6 North) balance proved to be too much. In addition to Morris' baker's dozen successful attacks, senior Noel Webster (Hagerston, MD/Elkton) added eight while Charity Hart (Richmond, VA/Highland Springs) contributed six. By contrast, no BSU (4-24, 2-15 CIAA, 2-9 North) player had more than six, spoiling the home finale and senior night for the Lady Bulldogs.

The dynamic effort was a credit to the efficiency of those running the offense. The dual-setter system, which has been effective for the Lady Lions, was successful once more as senior Lia Hubbard (Farrell, PA/Farrell ) and Sharay DuBose (Salisbury, Md./Parkside HS) each had 11 assists, keeping Bowie State's  defense off balance much of the night.
