LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – The Lincoln University (1-2) women's soccer team recorded its first win of the season by defeating Washington Adventist, 3-1, Sunday at Lions Field. Charlise Cunningham (Long Island, NY/Bayshore) (Bay Shore, N.Y.) scored a pair of goals as Washington Adventist drops 0-3 on the year.
Stephanie Anderson (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area HS) (Coatesville) began the scoring five minutes into the game, delivering the Lady Lions their first lead of the season. Cunningham gave Lincoln a 2-0 advantage when she scored at the 30-minute mark. Washington Adventist, though, responded quickly when Courtney Capers got a shot by Brittany Johnson (Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) (Glassboro, N.J.) shortly after.
The Lady Lions had numerous opportunities in the second half and finally capitalized when Cunningham scored off of a free kick from the left hand side for her second goal of the afternoon.
Lincoln is off until Thursday when it plays host to Georgian Court at 4 p.m. 3 at Lions Field.
