LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, PA. (June 11, 2009) – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania “Orange Crush” Roaring Lions Marching Bands will participate in the inaugural African-American Band Event on Saturday August 22, 2009 at Clipper Magazine Stadium in Lancaster, PA.
Lincoln will join several bands from Historically Black Colleges in an extravaganza of sound and soul beginning at 1:00 p.m. Tickets for the showcase are $10. Among some of the bands invited to this event include Cheyney, Delaware State, Morgan State and Coppin State. Local high school bands, drill teams and steppers are also scheduled to perform.
“I am blown away with exuberance regarding the invitation for the "ORANGE CRUSH" to participate in the AAA Band Event,” Lincoln band director H. Wade Johnson said. “Participating in an event such as this gives us the opportunity to represent Lincoln University as ambassadors and recruitment for the "First HBCU". It will enhance the band program where others can see from whence we've come in a short time.”
During the past year, the Orange Crush Roaring Lions have performed at Lincoln home football games, home basketball games, and in various competitions throughout the tri-state region. Band camp begins on Saturday August 15. For more information on joining the Lincoln band, please CLICK HERE for a brochure.
