Box Score

LINCOLN UNIVERSITY, Pa. – Behind a strong service game and a three-pronged attack, the Lincoln University volleyball team dominated Bowie State 25-10, 25-20, 25-17 Tuesday evening at Manuel Rivero Hall.

Noel Webster (Hagerston, MD, Elkton) had six kills to lead the Lions, an output nearly matched by five by Charity Hart (Richmond, VA, Highland Springs) and four by Kenyatta Austin (NJ, I.C.H.S). Webster and Austin, the team's lone seniors, were honored prior to the match as part of Senior Day as this marked the final home appearance for the Lady Lions in 2009. Student manager Danielle Williams (New York, NY/Murry Bergtraum) was also recognized for her involvement in the program

Austin, Erika Bell (Owings Mills, MD, Baltimore Polytechnic Institute) and Nekia Morris (San Bernadino, CA, San Gorgonio) each had 2 aces to lead Lincoln. LU had 10 to just two by BSU.

Lincoln never trailed in the opening game. After taking a 3-2 lead thanks to a Lady Bulldog service error, Lincoln would go on a run and stretch the advantage to 13-2, cruising to a 25-10 score.

In the second game, Lincoln trailed 5-2 but would respond by going up 9-5 on a kill by Webster with an assist by Lia Hubbard (Farrell, PA, Farrell), one of her 17.

Bowie State tried to avoid the sweep and would not trail in the third game until 14-13 following an attack error by Joshlyn Eggleston.

Lincoln's record improves to 9-19 and 5-5 in the CIAA with just Thursday's match at Elizabeth City State remaining.
