PHILADELPHIA, PA. (January 17, 2009) -- Darren Clark (Boston, MA, Largo) scored 16 points and Darrell Mosley (Chester, PA) added 12 points, but it wasn't enough as the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team dropped a 68-52 decision to Philadelphia University Saturday afternoon at the Gallagher Center. In a game in which three Lincoln starters fouled out and Philadelphia was whistled for eight fouls, Bryant Leach (Philadelphia, PA/John Bartram) finished with 12 rebounds for Lincoln (3-11). Lincoln made just 32.8 percent of its shots for the game (21-for-64) while Philadelphia shot 41 percent (19-for-46). Philadelphia was 24-for-31 from the free-throw line while Lincoln was 4-for-6.
Philadelphia, coached by Herb Magee, the all-time winningest coach in Division II history and a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, got a game-high 25 points from Russell Frederick. He was 6-for-8 from the field, 3-for-4 from 3-point distance and 10-for-11 from the foul line. Malcolm Ingram added 16 points for the Rams (11-3).
Lincoln returns to action Monday night when it hosts Wilmington University at Manuel Rivero Hall at 7:00 p.m. The Lions, under fifth-year coach Garfield Yuille, are 3-0 on Martin Luther King's Holiday. Philadelphia will visit Nyack Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m.
