ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (September 18, 2008) – Donneisha Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Harold S. Vincent) had a game-high eight kills and a .200 hitting percentage, but it wasn't enough to help the Lincoln University of Pennsylvania volleyball team slow down red-hot Elizabeth City State University. The Vikings (12-6 overall) ran their winning streak to eight matches by defeating Lincoln, 25-11, 25-9, 25-16. Beginning a three-match road trip through the CIAA, Lincoln saw its record slip to 2-8. Lincoln continues its trip with a match at Virginia State on Friday night and at Shaw University Saturday morning.
Sophomore Lia Hubbard (Farrell, PA/Farrell) finished with 11 kills to lead Lincoln, which also got seven digs each from seniors Jordean Matthews (Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville) and Lindsey Wilson (Aliquippa, PA/Aliquippa). Hubbard and Smith also had two aces each for Lincoln. Smith finished with six digs.
Leaders for Elizabeth City State included Jennifer Hardy (six kills), Ashley Tarasoff (13 assists), Cassie Noe (four service aces and 12 digs).
Lincoln and Elizabeth City State will meet again on Thursday October 2 at Lincoln beginning at 6:00 p.m.
