BOWIE, MD. (August 28, 2008) – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania volleyball team fell to host Bowie State, 3-1, in its season opening game at A.C. Jordan Arena (BOXSCORE).

Lincoln battled the Bulldogs tough before dropping a 16-25, 12-25, 25-23, 14-25 decision.

Senior Donneisha Smith (Milwaukee, WI/Harold S. Vincent) led Lincoln with seven kills and eight digs. Senior Lindsey Wilson (Aliquippa, PA/Aliquippa) and junior Noel Webster (Hagerstown, MD/Elkton) also finished with eight digs for the Lady Lions (0-1). Sophomore Lia Hubbard (Farrell, PA/Farrell) had 17 assists.

Lincoln was at its competitive best in the third game overcoming a late 22-18 deficit to force a fourth game. Smith finished the game with three consecutive aces to help the Lady Lions stay alive.

Lincoln returns to action Sunday morning when it hosts Virginia State University in its home opener at 11:00 a.m.
