Lincoln has trouble getting started in setbacks to Goldey Beacom

WILMINGTON, DE. (March 16, 2008) – The Lincoln University of Pennsylvania softball team turned two spectacular double plays during pair of losses against Goldey Beacom College Sunday afternoon. 

 

Playing in chilly and windy conditions for the third time this season, the Lions (0-10) lost both games to Goldey Beacom, 17-0 (BOXSCORE) and 11-0 (BOXSCORE). Goldey Beacom, playing its first home game of the season, improved its record to 4-1.

 

Capri Burnett (Philadelphia, PA/Roxborough), Sasha Evans (Hampton, VA/Phoebus) and Chanelle Harris (Yeadon, PA/Penn Wood) reached base with walks in the second game. Third baseman DeJuana Mosley (Chester, PA/Chester) had two assists and shortstop Tanina Cook (Landover, MD/Charles H. Flowers) led Lincoln with four putouts. Shanisse Conway (Westhampton Beach, CA/Westhampton Beach) pitched her first career complete game in defeat. Leftfielder Alisa Davis (Gloucester, NJ/Gloucester County Tech) made a nice catch in the bottom of the first inning of the opening game. Cook also had four putouts, including a highligh-reel grab of a hard-hit line drive.

 

Lincoln finishes its busy stretch of games with doubleheaders Tuesday at Millersville (3:30 p.m.) and Wednesday at Bowie State (3:00 p.m.). Once Lincoln concludes its games against Bowie State, it will have played 12 games in since March 13.
